To create the logo we used a paper template to draw and then cut out the various sections of the logo on foam card. The tricky bit came when trying to cut out the shapes for the red foreground as the template we were using was just a paper cutout of the logo and therefore we could only draw the outlines.
However we managed to do this successfully. Once we had the shapes we had the fiddly job of trying to cut out the olympic rings to stick on the logo. I tried to do this whilst Liz cut out the shapes. After many failed attempts we decided that the easiest thing to do would be to draw them on with tip-ex.
My test animation that i did the day before taught me that we would need to somehow stick the shapes to our background. Blue tack was the first idea but then we decided the best option would be to use butterfly clips which would pin down the shapes and attach them to our card background. This way the shapes would stay in position when moved.
To ensure that the animation would loop properly we would have to make sure that the positioning of the character in frame 24 was the same as in frame 1. In order to make the animation more interesting and to create more movement we decided that the character would throw the ball against a wall, the ball would then bounce before the character kicked the ball in the air and caught it in its hand. Sam had the job of directing the movements from frame to frame whilst I took the shots.
Here you can see our completed olympics character which we affectionately named 'Ringo of London'.
