To be able to design a website to fit within the constraints of the screen it would be essential to know what range of screen sizes were out on the market, i found this useful website which detailed the most common screen resolutions for lots of different brands....

The majority of portrait phones have a resolution of 320x480.
We cannot possibly cater for every single make of phone so we are going to have to go with the most common screen sizes
