Page designs emailed to Towner

Yesterday I emailed our client with the four pages that had been done. As we felt the need to be getting on with the build soon, I decided to send the remaining pages out when they have been designed.

Below you can see all the designs we have sent off so far with a copy of the email we sent to the client. To make it easier to understand in this blog post, I have included the annotations and variations of each version below the copy of the design itself...

Hi Gilly,

We have compiled some different designs for each page on the website for you to look at. There are a few versions for each page that we have designed, this gives you the option to either choose your preferred design or to perhaps mix and match a little by taking elements from each one.

About Us Pages

About Us V1

This  version includes all the text from your initial about page on the main site with a nice image of the Towner gallery. Also includes a few snippets of text from your 'Our Story' Page.

Instead of a simple 'visit our main site' link, I have decided to incorporate a 'find out more' icon/button which could be used throughout the rest of the website if you so wish. It just helps to make it more obvious to the user what they have to do. However the down side to this is that it may increase the page loading time. It would be entirely your decision as to which one you think would work best.

About Us V2
The significant changes made from version 1 are as follows...

·         Contains only the text from the initial about page on the main site.

·         First line of text after page title has been changed to blue.

·         Quote at the bottom of the page changed to blue to make it look more noticeable.

Community

There is a brief overview and text taken directly from the website's top level community page.

The mobile site has the option to view more information about the community partners and projects by selecting a link that will take them back to the main website.

Join Us

This is a very similar layout to the one on your main website. We have included a version that includes all the text from the website.
We also have a version with all text and an image from the site.

Visitor Information

V1 shows all of the information compiled together as scrollable content, this means that there is no need for another sub menu and that would improve the time it took the page to load, however the user will be required to scroll down the page a great deal.

Alternate Options

 An alternative option to this would be to have a little sub menu appear where the user then has the ability to select from whichever option is most relevant to their needs without having to scroll through the other information. We have attached a couple of versions of this just because, should you choose this option, we were unsure as to which wording you would prefer for the page displaying additional information about the Towner i.e the gift shop, cloakroom etc. We prefer ‘gallery extra’s’ but the decision would be yours.

We have then supplied an example page of the 'opening times' page which demonstrates how the content would look on screen.

 Please could you provide us with feedback to let us know what you like and which versions of each design you would like to go with?

On a side note, there are certain pros and cons with having images and icons on screen. They look nice on each page however the user may then have to wait a little longer for the page to load. At the end of the day it is entirely your decision.
