Water For Elephants - Bluebell Railway photograps

On two occasions I made a visit to the Bluebell Railway in Sheffield Park, East Sussex to take some good pictures of their steam trains for my book cover... as you can see....the snow was rather a problem on the first visit!

Water For Elephants - Book Cover/Banner Research

The 'New York Central System' design is one that i created from a photoshop tutorial, i really like the striped sunset and the grungy 'old' feel about it.
The 'Railways' picture is a front cover for 'Design' magazine. The cover was designed by Ken Garland. I espeially like the contrasting colours and the clever way the type is used to suggest the train tracks.
This is what a circus would have looked like around the time the book was set in. This really gives you a feel for the time.

Here are some book covers that i looked at to draw inspiration for my own design. I specifically liked the 'Animal Farm' cover. I love the way the stripes fan out and blend in with the rest of the cover.  I also like 'The Red Arrow' cover and the way the train is made up of lots of different colours, also the way it looks as if it is coming at you at a perspective.
